Anyone who knows me knows how competitive (and stubborn) I can be, so when I read an article back in 2006 about a young 16 year old lad who made soap in his kitchen at home and turned it into a business, the first thing I thought was if he can do that then so can I and so I did. From that article Mitcheldean Soap was born in the late summer of 2007.
Now many years later Mitcheldean Soap has gone from being a kitchen table business to being a stand alone family business in its own unit still within the village of Mitcheldean. Living in the Forest of Dean we are spoilt with green countryside and fabulous views and this is what’s important to us, to protect our environment, so we strive to be plastic free, we use plant oils, clays and essential oils, we use traditional processes and best of all is we have total control over what goes into our artisan soap bars as we make each batch by hand in small quantities. We also recycle boxes and packaging that comes into us, usually to package up our trade orders.
All our soap bars are handmade in small batches never mass produced. Only natural ingredients are used and once our bars are made then they are hand sliced, cured and then wrapped by hand. We use the traditional cold process method to make our soaps and it’s a process that I have fallen in love with as it gives you so much scope to make many different bars yet keeping the quality and luxury that we insist upon.
In fact we pride ourselves on our bars being luxury soaps that you can use every single day, pamper your skin as they are made with you in mind and also they make great gifts for friends and relatives.
So put your feet up and have a mooch around our website, hopefully you will be inspired to treat yourself or a loved one to a bar or two.
