Lovely Soap Bars at Linton

So last night I toddled off to Linton in Herefordshire (just ten minutes away from us) for their annual Christmas Fayre. As you may know I don’t actually get to attend many events now but I just had to attend this one as it’s one of my favourite’s. The atmosphere is lovely and friendly , the quality of the stalls are amazing, and you are constantly supplied with tea or mulled wine! Oh and lots of lovely food as well!

I went with high expectations and to say they were smashed would be an understatement. Linton residents came over to say hello and let me know how they had got on with their purchases they had made from us the year before.  All glowing reports am happy to say, one lady told me she had been burning one of our mulled wine candles before she came to the Fayre to get into the Christmas spirit.  Another lady came upto me to let me know she had won the raffle last year and was the proud owner of some of our goodies that were prizes, she was hoping she would win again this year. (she didn’t but she is still a fan!)

I had a fabulous conversation with a man who came over to inform me he was having a serious problem with his wife (I was a bit worried by this confession until all became clear) turns out he smokes a pipe which his wife hates the smell off so he brought four of our candles as a peace offering, he went away smiling at the thought of smoking his pipe peacefully! (something tells me it won’t be quite that easy but a lovely thought!)

Then we met some of our fellow members of the WVFDTA (Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism Assocation) , we met Mad Dogs and Vintage Vans and learnt a bit more about them and their dreams, they are all about boutique glamping in the Wye Valley, they have some gorgeous places to stay and are well worth a visit, you can find their website at http://maddogsandvintagevans.co.uk/. We also met the lovely Yvette from Hart’s Barn Cookery School, they run the most amazing classes for kids and adults so if you want to make something scrummy then you need to visit them at Harts Barn just outside Mitcheldean. http://www.hartsbarncookeryschool.co.uk/.

We also met local author Sarah Colliver who has recently released her latest book on amazon, if you love the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley then have a read and see if you can recognise the places mentioned in the novel. We hope Sarah is enjoying her soap! Her novel is called Echoes from the past : Peggy Rodman.

One of the nicest comments I received on the evening was from a lady who took the time to carry out some very considered sniffing of the candle fragrances, she was very pleased they smelt exactly as they were described , she said so many times she smells a fragranced candle and it is nothing like the fragrance it claims to be!

So thank you all for a lovely evening and hope to see you all again at next years Christmas Fayre!
