Summer is finally here.
This week here at Mitcheldean Soap it has finally felt like summer. Yippee we all cry, the sun is out, the birds are up and chirping ridiculously early in the mornings and the cats are snoozing on the decking outside. Best of all though flowers are blooming and fragrant, pictured below is a rose from my mum’s garden which is when I began to think, yes summer really is here.
I love all the different fragrances of the flowers when you start to walk around our village and quite often that is how one of our bars of soap ends up being created from something I’ve smelt on one of our rambles.
I started a board on pinterest with pictures of flowers I have seen on my travels, I have lots
more to pin but it’s on my list of jobs to do as they say. (link at bottom) Purple flowers seem to draw my eye followed by pink just in case you wonder why there are so many purple flowers pictured. Wisteria and Clematis are also firm favourites.
This year it is my goal to grow some Clematis plants successfully for a change, not once have they survived in my garden but so far so good this year, one is looking quite healthy and I’m hoping he’s going to survive. I seem to forever be pulling up bindweed (if only the plants we wanted grew as strong and virile as bindweed)
This time of year is one of my favourite times without a doubt. Everything looks fresh and rosy, plants are flourishing, the lavender in our garden just smells devine and pets are lounging around lazily in the sunshine, sleeping on decking, hiding in the shade when needed, what is not to like about this time of year!
Enjoy your summer everyone especially those warm summer evenings, with a cool drink and a good book!
